This varied course investigates a range of social, physical, environmental, economic and cultural issues at a range of local, national and global scales.
Throughout the course students will develop a range of geographical skills which enable them to analyse a variety of issues and evaluate different viewpoints.
Units studied include:
Hazardous environments.
Coastal landscapes.
Water and energy issues.
Globalisation
Superpowers.
Population, migration and global governance.
This course also requires students to conduct their own independent piece of fieldwork research which is written up as a formal report and is a fantastic learning experience in preparation for higher study and the workplace.
Underpinning all of these topics are themes of interdependence, geopolitics, history and a sense of morality. This course helps learners understand just home complicated planet earth is but how we all play are part in shaping it, now and in the future.
